Twinning Exchange with Clermont l'Herault October 2015

This was another good exchange between our town associations.
It was different in a way as many of the people who we met were new to twinning, but nevertheless the soon picked up the informality of our relationship and new friendships were formed over the 4 day period.
It was a similar format as we use here in Patchway where many of the members use their own cars to get to the events and all meet up as one group. In the past where there had been more ambitious exchanges coaches were needed to get to the venue sites.

Proposed visit to Clermont l'Herault Early October

We have received an official invitation to visit our twin town from the Marie.

The dates are from Friday 2nd October until Monday 5th October.

There is a full itinerary and it appears as if any free time will be very limited.

We are flying from Bristol to Beziers via Ryanair and will be met at Beziers airport by the members of the Jumalage for our short trip to Clermont.

School Exchange with Gauting

We have just received 6 young people from our twin town of Gauting.
The Realschule, their secondary school, has renewed their annual visit to allow 6 of their students to have work experiance in the schools around Patchway.
Many thanks to Richard Clark of the Cosmos Academy for organising the placement of the children in the schools.
Stoke Lodge, Callicroft and St Chads Primary Schools took part this year and had two students each.
All splendid news for our local schools as they have all achieved GOOD in the latest round of OFSTED inspections.

Exchange visit to Clermont l'Herault

We have been invited to Clermont l'Herault between the 2nd and 5th of October.
We are sending a delegation of around 12 people for the exchange which, although short, I am sure it will be very interesting.
All those wishing to go should contact Mrs Lucy Hamid, the address is as published in the latest newsletter.
For all those who have put their names down the flight is from Bristol on Friday 2nd October, around midday and returns on Monday 5th around 4pm local time.

Clermont l'Herault to Patchway May 2015

Our Twin Town of Clermont l'Herault sent a party over to Patchway to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Twinning Charter between the two towns.
It would be a new experience for some of them as they have not been to Patchway before and did not know what to expect when they arrived at the homes of their hosts.
Being absolutely honest it did not start well, our town minibus which we thought had been organised for months was not in the garage when we arrived to go to the airport!

Wine Tasting Evening

Patchway Twinning Association are organising a Wine tasting evening with buffet to take place at Patchway Community Centre during this year's Patchway Festival which runs from 11th - 26th. July. Most likely this will be held on Friday 17th. the date to be confirmed.  We are liaising with local stores to organise this event which hopefully will raise funds for and  promote the Twinning Association and increase business for the store concerned whilst everyone attending should have a really good evening.

Delegation from Clermont May 2015

After the elections of 2014 we invited the new Mayor of Clermont l'Herault, Salvador Ruiz and members of the Jumalage to visit Patchway.
We are delighted to report that a party of 10 will be arriving in Patchway on Friday May 15th until Monday May 18th flying into Bristol from Agde/Beziers
It is a very short stay so we have arranged a small program to show them around the local area and Bristol, perhaps next time they could come for a little longer, we could show them more of the lovely areas surrounding Bristol.

Annual Dinner 2015

On Friday 17th April we held our Annual Dinner at Filton Golf Club, it used to be called Christmas Dinner but it has slipped somewhat.
We had a very good turn out for the dinner and many thanks to all those who attended, and thanks to Alex who drove the new Patchway Minibus and collected so many people.
As usual the service was excellent and the dinner was very good, thanks to Ann for organising this event.

Gauting Exchange September 2014

This year it was the turn of Gauting, Bavaria, to visit Patchway.
It has been a very long time since our friends were last here because they were so busy celebrating their 40th anniversary with Clermont L'Herault, Langeudoc.
On Thursday 18th September our guests left Gauting at 6am and travelled by Easyjet from Munich to Gatwick and then on to Bristol via National Express. We picked them up at Bristol Bus station, not a very pleasant experiance for us or them. Bristol really must do something about their "Gateway to the World" its diabolical.

Twinning Exchange. Gauting to Patchway

On September 18th for 4 days we are hosting a small delegation from our twin town of Gauting in Bavaria.
We intend to have a very busy weekend with a day out in Bath on the Friday, on the Saturday we intend to hold a gathering in Patchway to allow the Patchway Town Council the new Mayor of Gauting who was elected this year.
Sunday will be free to get acquainted with the hosts and do something in the local area.
